Veterinary Nursing has always been a passion of mine. I am a crazy cat lady with my own naughty kitty called Cali. I hope to specialise in Feline Nursing once I qualify. I hope to be starting my veterinary nursing training later this year.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - SOULLESS STAFF My partner and I used this practice for a number of years, and the service has always been mediocre at best. The only reason we continued to go was because of proximity to our home and because, after many bad experiences, we had finally found a vet that was actually caring and extremely professional. She has now left the practice (can't blame her, really) but, generally speaking, the staff turnover rate for both receptionists and vets seems to be quite high, which is already an indication of a poorly-managed practice. There’s a new vet every 6 months for a very small team of 2-3 vets at most. The reason I'm giving them one star is because of an extremely distressing situation they put me through the day before yesterday. My partner rang the practice to get an urgent appointment for our 16-year old dog who had been scratching frantically and generally looking very uncomfortable. We were given an appointment at 3 pm, which the practice then asked to be rescheduled to 3:30 due to emergency surgery (completely understandable). We agreed, and I took every care to try to make the appointment, leaving my house an hour before the scheduled time. We don't have a vehicle, so I had to take an Uber Pets, as my dog is so frail. Unfortunately, there were rail strikes as well, meaning that traffic was much heavier than usual, and the new time slot meant my Uber driver caught the busy school run time. I promptly rang the practice to inform them that I was on my way but I would be a few minutes late. They said they would inform the vet. I reached the practice at 15:45, well aware that I was 15 minutes late. The vet refused to see my pet, even though I still had a good 15 minutes left and after I implored them to please help me as my dog was in such a poor state. I offered to stay in the waiting room. I asked them for any alternative solution they could provide. I begged them. They absolutely did not care. Moreover, they allowed the people already waiting for their 4 pm appointment in at 15:50 (still my slot) right before my eyes, which was a slap on the face. While I completely acknowledge tardiness on my part, refusing to give my pet any sort of care in view of the transport situation and after I agreed to reschedule the appointment at their request is a very clear indication of a complete lack of humanity on their part. Look for any other practice in the area before settling for this one. You've been warned.

During my visits over the past year I have noticed two issues: a) Medivet Petts Wood is extremely pricey. I had my cat's tail amputated in 2022 and I was quoted in excess of £1500. I had to inquire around and finally got it done at Green St green for a third of that price (A THIRD! £600).Sadly this clinic was taken over by Medivet and it's now closed. B) Over the last year, I have noticed that vets are constantly trying to upsell treatments or diagnostic procedures for my cat. I dread going to the vets now.. It's not a criticism of the vets, rather the management. Please do not instruct the vets to upsell and provide only necessary treatment to the pets. I have spoken to many people and the feedback I have got is that Medivet Petts Wood is really expensive. Please someone at Medivet needs to do something about this...

A good practice but with an apparent high turnover of vets as you never see the same one twice

Hit and miss whom you see. Only one member of staff out of whole veterinary team who is extremely abrupt.

I ordered repeat medications which were dispensed quickly, but when I went to collect them on the same day after work, it was closed by 6.20 when I got there, despite being open until 7pm on the website. I now have to wait until Monday to collect.

Friendly staff and easily get an appointment for my pet. Also it’s a reasonable price compared to other vets around.

I will no longer be using Medivet Petts wood following our recent experience. We brought our pet in for a routine vaccine and general check-up and walked out with her being covered in fleas. We have now spent the last two weeks trying to clear the fleas from her fur, clean and sanitise the house and anything potentially contaminated within it. This has cost us an extreme amount of time and effort, not to mention money. When our pet then came down with a high temperature directly caused by the fleas, Medivet not only lied saying their was no directly link, but had zero accountability, zero apology, zero acknowledgement and failed accommodate us in the slightest. Instead, changed our appointment type for a more expensive consultation and proceeded to charge us more money.
